OUR MISSION

My name is Elijah Puna. For over 15 years, basketball has been the central thread of my life—from the discipline of the court to the camaraderie of the team. Five years ago, I founded Full Court Focus Basketball with a personal challenge: to see if I could truly teach the game that had given me so much. I wanted to pass on not just the plays, but the passion.

What I discovered on that journey was a revelation. I saw that while young athletes desperately wanted skill development and a boost in confidence, that was only the surface. Digging deeper, I found they were searching for something more: a positive outlet for their energy, a safe space to challenge themselves, and most importantly, a guide to help them navigate what it truly means to be an athlete—the discipline, the resilience, the teamwork.

This was a huge realisation for me, one that fundamentally changed my role as a coach. The game was no longer just about how flashy a player could dribble or how many shots they could make in a row. It became about the conversations in the car after practice, the lessons in handling defeat with grace, and the quiet confidence built from achieving a personal goal. It was about how I could impact them as people, especially as they were growing through some of their tougher years in life.

I made a commitment then to become the coach that athletes could reach out to whenever they needed—not just about a jump shot, but about school, friendships, and the pressures they faced. We've built Full Court Focus on this foundational belief.

Over the past few years, we have taken that mission to heart, and I am incredibly proud that we have positively impacted over 100 athletes to date. This growth led us to a natural and exciting next step: expanding our team. We have now opened our doors to coaches who share this same, deeper mission, ensuring that every child who trains with us receives not just expert coaching, but genuine mentorship.

Our story is still being written, and we are only just getting started. We look forward to continuing to grow, to guide, and to see what we can achieve together with the next generation.
